Next-generation firewalls have an increased application awareness and the ability to identify different applications using various techniques, including web-based applications. They securely store details of approved applications and thoroughly inspect data packets to detect potential issues. Moreover, they provide system administrators with a reference point against deviations from normal application behavior, assisting them effectively.
SD-WAN (Software-Defined Wide Area Network) refers to a software-based wide area network and is a technology used to manage network traffic more effectively and efficiently. It was developed as an alternative to traditional MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching) based networks.
SD-WAN enables the centralized management of a network comprising many different embedded branches (branch offices). Essentially, SD-WAN optimizes the use of multiple wide area network connections (such as MPLS, internet, 4G/5G, etc.) by intelligently routing network traffic.
